“I started to give her a bag and,
in her anger, she said, ‘Oh I don’t
need that. Give it to someone
else.’ I told her she did need it and
deserved the gift as much as anyone
else. She took a look at the items
and immediately you could see the
anger go out of her face and the
smile start.
“She went out into the waiting
room, where my husband was wait-
ing for me and, not knowing he is
my husband, she started telling him
about this wonderful gift bag and
all the wonderful items and how
she couldn’t wait to play the CD —
mine!
“There is always a bag on display
at the concert so people can see
where their money is going,” said
Greenberg of Farmington Hills.
She also displays brochures from
Cancer Thrivers, Michigan Ovarian
Cancer Alliance and Beaumont
Hospital’s One to One Ovarian
Cancer Support Group.
Greenberg also is Great Lakes
regional coordinator of Survivors
Teaching Students: Saving Women’s
Lives. She oversees the program,
created by the Ovarian Cancer
Research Fund Alliance, in five
states, speaking to students in
medical fields about ovarian cancer
awareness, symptoms and risk fac-
tors.
Greenberg’s hope is that those
who attend the concert will come
to hear wonderful music and also
know they are making a donation
to a meaningful cause.
Reflecting on her life’s work
with students and cancer patients,
Greenberg said, “I did all of this
because I love music, I love children
and sharing my good fortune of
surviving 16 years after being diag-
nosed with ovarian cancer was just
the right thing to do.”

Please join us on Sunday, September 18th for a very special evening:
Featured Keynote Speaker
Lt. Gen. (Res.) Benjamin (Benny) Gantz
Lt. Gen. Gantz is one of the most respected public figures in Israel
and is considered, by many, a rising candidate for major political
office. He recently retired from a distinguished military career,
culminating as the 20th chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces,
where he played a major role in the strategic partnership of the
IDF and Magen David Adom. Currently, he is the chairman of
several high-tech companies, is working to redevelop businesses in
economically depressed communities, and is leading social efforts
in Israel. The son of Holocaust survivors, he was raised an ardent
Zionist. Gantz is married with four children.
