On Sunday, June 5, at 4 p.m., the
congregation will celebrate the rabbi
with a program “This Is Your Life,
Rabbi Pachter” hosted by celebrity Al
Muskovitz. Dinner, music and games
will follow.

Pachter will be honored with the
title rabbi emeritus beginning July 1.
He will continue to teach and provide
pastoral duties and be involved with
special projects. He will also continue
as director of student services and
programming at FJA.
The rabbi also has served as an
instructor at Hillel Day School and
the Jewish Community Center, in
the SAJE program and at the Pitt
Child Development Center. He is
a past president of the Michigan
Board of Rabbis and the Michigan
Region of the Rabbinical Assembly,
and has been a member of the board
of numerous organizations and
Federation committees.

BETH OLEM CEMETERY TO OPEN TO VISITORS

The board of trustees of Clover Hill Park Cemetery and Congregation Shaarey
Zedek will open Beth Olem Cemetery (Smith Street Cemetery) prior to Passover
10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, April 17.
Beth Olem was established in 1862 and remains one of the oldest historic
sites in the Jewish community. With the cooperation of Detroit and Hamtramck
and the continuing support of General Motors Corporation, the cemetery has
retained its dignity and spirituality.
Beth Olem is located on the site of the General Motors Cadillac (Poletown)
Plant. Entrance to the cemetery is the through the truck gate, and the plant secu-
rity will assist visitors in locating the cemetery site.
