Sushi And More
Savor the Japanese and Chinese delights at Feng Taste on Orchard Lake Road.
P
OTPOURRI …
Another unsung restaurant that
many folks numerous times will not
talk about because they revere it so much as
their own personal secret is hardly a secret
anymore.
Feng Taste, Orchard Lake Road, between
12 and 13 Mile roads, Farmington Hills …
owned by Yue Feng Cao, the first sushi head
chef when Joe Vicari opened his Joe Muer
Seafood restaurant in Renaissance Center,
Detroit.
It serves both Japanese sushi and Chinese
dishes … The menu’s vegetarian sushi rolls
go over big with folks allergic to fish or who
just want to enjoy Yue Feng’s veggie sushi,
too … Yue Feng creates his Japanese sushi
and Chinese dishes with talent that make
many come-back visits out of first-timers.
He even throws in the
making of Pad Thai, too, with
onion, egg, crushed peanuts,
lemon, chili, Thai sweet and
sour sauce, and rice noodles
… Also, one of the house spe-
cialties, called Happy Family,
goes over big with its stir-fry
shrimp, scallops, beef and
chicken with vegetables … If
you want all seafood, try the
Seafood Delight of king crab,
scallops and shrimp with
vegetables.
Feng Taste seats 52 people Yue Feng Cao
with eight stools at the sushi
bar … It is open seven days a
week, Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.;
Friday, 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m.; Saturday, noon-
10:30 p.m.; Sunday, noon-10 p.m.
Plus, Yue Feng is also responsible for Joe
Muer’s original sushi menu … He is the
originator of the delicious Dynamite Sushi
Roll of spiced crab atop shrimp, avocado,
cucumber topped with barbecue sauce.
Importantly, Yue Feng is a

Managing Director Ken Schwartz originally
had shows in the open … However, with
attendees fighting the mosquitos, he put
up a tent which blew away and the lights
brought even more biting insects to join the
party feast. Kenny then framed the tent but
the rain noise drowned out the actors and
actresses, and the show would stop until the
rain did.)
OLDIE BUT GOODIE DEPT. … From
Russi Arden … The man lay sprawled
across three high-priced main-floor seats
at a concert. When the usher came by and
noticed this, he whispered to the man, “I’m
sorry, sir, but you’re only allowed one seat.”
When the fellow didn’t budge, the usher
became impatient and said, “Sir, if you don’t
get up from there, I’m going to have to call
the manager.”
The man just muttered but once again
did nothing. The usher marched briskly
back up the aisle, and in a moment he
returned with the manager. Together the
two of them tried repeatedly to move
the disheveled man, but with no success.
Finally they summoned the police.
The officer surveyed the situation briefly
then asked, “All right, buddy, what’s your
name?”
“Fred,” the man moaned.
“Where you from, Fred? asked the police
officer.
With a terrible strain in his voice, Fred
replied, “The balcony.”
