Program Helps
Detroit Teens
Get Job-Ready

A

bout 100 Detroit students
will receive tailored suits
and advice on interviewing
skills at “Project Pinstripe Detroit,”
a community service program on
Saturday, March 12, organized by Rob
Wachler, a haberdasher with Tom
James Company.
“Our mission
is to engage with
young men, high
school seniors, who
are about to gradu-
ate and enter the
next phase of their
lives, be it college or
the job market, and
Rob Wachler
to impress upon
them the importance of a positive
first impression,” Wachler said. This
is the 11th annual Project Pinstripe.
“We strive to raise self-confidence
and self-esteem by equipping the stu-
dents with guidelines of the profes-
sional world.”
The program will begin with an
orientation on “Making the First
Impression” at 9:30 a.m., followed by
job interview role-play conducted by
members of the Detroit A.M. Rotary
Club and Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.
A hot lunch will be provided by
O’Mara’s Restaurant of Berkley, fol-
lowed by etiquette training, social
media marketing and the selection
of a complete business outfit. Suits,
shirts and ties are donated by clients
of the Tom James Company, which
manufactures and retails custom
clothing.
“The rewards for our team at Tom
James Detroit are evident in the long
hours, hard work and tremendous
attitudes that we see each year, and in
the number of employees who have
moved on in their careers, yet return
every year to help out on Project
Pinstripe,” said Wachler. “For me,
Project Pinstripe has become a pas-
sionate endeavor that grows deeper
and more personal every time we
click into gear.”
The program is co-sponsored
by the Detroit A.M. Rotary Club,
Don Bosco Hall, Franklin Wright
Settlements and Alpha Phi Alpha.
The program will take place at
Youthville Detroit.
Donations may be made to the
