SYLVIA HURVITZ, 95, of Delray Beach,
Fla., died Feb. 23, 2016.
She is survived by her son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Arthur and Trisha Hurvitz
of West Bloomfield; sister, Geraldine
Warren; grandchildren, Jennifer
Weintraub, Julie (David) Chernow,
Benjamin (Pono Kahale) Hurvitz, Jeffrey
(Yoko) Hurvitz, Rachel (Larry) Goff,
Jared (Corina) Hurvitz; great-grandchil-
dren, Jonah, Jake, Zac and Blair; many
loving nieces, nephews, other family
members and friends.
Mrs. Hurvitz was the beloved wife of
the late Samuel Hurvitz; mother of the
late Harvey Hurvitz; sister of the late
Lillyan Borin; sister-in-law of the late Dr.
William Warren and the late Leonard
Borin.
Interment was held at the Clover
Hill Park Cemetery in Birmingham.

of the late Louis Weinberg.

took place at Machpelah Cemetery in

JEROME “JERRY”
KATZ, 82, of Detroit,
died Feb. 24, 2016.
He is survived by
many loving nieces,

He was the beloved
husband of the late Stephanie Katz; the
loving brother of the late Morris Katz,
the late Anna Katz Brenner, the late
Lillian and the late Ruben Gold, the late
Dr. Isadore and the late Celia Katz, and
the late Jeannette Tilchin; dear brother-
in-law of the late Mary Katz.
Interment was at Machpelah

RUTH E. KIMMEL,
89, of Farmington
Hills, died Feb. 24,
2016.
An alumni of the
University of Iowa,
Mrs. Kimmel was
the past president
Kimmel
of Pioneer Women
(Na’amat), a board
member of Congregation Beth Moses,
a supporter of the Detroit Symphony,
a member of the women’s auxiliary
of United Hebrew School and a vol-
unteer at Meals On Wheels. She also
volunteered at the Farmington Hills
Public Library and was known to all as
“Mom”. A leader of great books groups,
she also could recite poems at the drop
of a hat and was a perpetual student of
adult education.
Ruth met her future husband when
she was 5 years old and even attended
his bar mitzvah. She was the absolutely
“best” wife, mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother.
Mrs. Kimmel is survived by her
daughters and son-in-law, Julie
Solomon Kimmel and Akiva Jerry
Solomon of West Bloomfield, Sharon
Reinherz of Pittsburgh, Pa.; son and
daughter-in-law, Robert and Laurie
Kimmel of West Bloomfield; grand-
children, Emily Leah Kimmel Kurtz
and Stephanie Kurtz, Rabbi Avihud
