RUTH SELVAN, 92, of
Memphis, Tenn., died Jan.
18, 2016.
A volunteer for many
organizations, including
Michigan school systems,
Mrs. Selvan was a charter
member of Congregation
Selvan
Beth Shalom and a strong
c. 1970
supporter of its sisterhood
and other committees.
Mrs. Selvan is survived by her children,
Dr. Arthur and Sandy Selvan of Newport
Beach, Calif., Elaine Rita Selvan and David
Levine of Memphis, Charles and Jeannie
Selvan of Seminole, Fla.; grandchildren,
Brian and June Selvan, Stacie and Jeff
Greenberg, Whitney and Scott Sorin, Keith
Levine, Adam Selvan, Bradley and Cornelia
Selvan; great-grandchildren, Mia Selvan,
Noah Selvan, Kaylee Greenberg, Rian
Greenberg, Kendyl Sorin, Rylee Sorin, Ross
Sorin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
She was the beloved wife for 59 years
of the late Sam Selvan; the dear sister and
sister-in-law of the late Harry Pomerantz, the
late Shirley and the late George Sada, the late
Sylvia and the late Kenneth Stern, the late
Esther and the late Joe Sandler, the late Janet

and the late Charles Gurian, the late Hilda
and the late George Prevost, the late Phillip
and the late Eleanor Selvan.
Contributions may be made to a charity of
one’s choice. Interment was held at Hebrew
Memorial Park. Arrangements by Hebrew
Memorial Chapel.

HELENE SHULMAN, 87,
of West Bloomfield, died
Jan. 24, 2016.
She is survived by her
son and daughter-in-
law, Marc and Shoshana
Shulman; daughters and
sons-in-law, Lynne and
Shulman
Richard Ludwig, and
Cindy and Daniel Hirsch;
grandchildren, Jamie Ludwig, Jennifer
Ludwig, Julie and Jed Kleckner, Michael
Ludwig and his fiancee, Meg Vanderveen,
Rachel Shulman and Jake Honoroff, Jessica
Wayne and her fiance, Zach Shenitsky, Amy
Shulman, Michelle Wayne, Sara Shulman
and Isabelle Popper; great-grandson, Noah
Kleckner; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin
and Claire Tamaroff; sisters, Shirlee Katzman
and Betty Schwartz. She is also survived
by Lois Shulman; her devoted caregivers,
Deborah and Aletha; many loving nieces,

nephews and friends.
Mrs. Shulman was the beloved wife of the
late Jack Shulman.
Interment was at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be made to

Charlie Markowitz, Cody Markowitz, Kyla

nieces, nephews; her devoted caregiver, Betty

Bailey, along with the wonderful staff and
volunteers of hospice.
Mrs. Sweet was the beloved wife of the late
Jack Sweet; the sister of the late David Jablon.

of Michigan or to the Jewish Hospice &
Chaplaincy Network. Interment took place
at the Machpelah Cemetery in Ferndale.
