rics to flowers and party favors.”
Weddings, explains Cherkasky, are
becoming less formal. Couples are
choosing more industrial settings
from venues in Detroit to places like
the Royal Oak Farmer’s Market.
“It’s fun to put different pieces on
the tables to represent the spaces

JN: What should a
bride expect from a wedding plan-
ner?
MH: “A bride should expect the
planner to make sure that from start

to take the worries and stress away
from planning an event, making it a

percent into making their special
day the most memorable day of their
lives.

family because we’ve been talking
daily. Because I work so closely with
my clients, I am selective in the
number of parties I do per month so
I can devote my time and energy to
making all parties fabulous.”
JN: What are some of the current
wedding trends?
MH: “Everyone wants the latest
and greatest but it also depends on
their preferences and tastes. I’ve
done so many different kinds of
weddings. People are always looking
to do something out of the box.”
One couple, for example, asked
each guest to attach a special mes-
