The original owners of Brian and Victoria Roth’s Poppleton Park-area Birmingham home had engaged renowned designer Brian Killian (who died
in 2005), who was the mentor of the Roths’ own designer, Richard Ross, owner of Richard Ross Designs in Royal Oak. In a corner of the formal living
room with views of the backyard loggia, Ross layered a traditional English high-back sofa, covered in Donghia fabric, with a pair of modern geomet-
ric-patterned pillows. Deep red accents the cream-colored draperies, and a diamond sisal area rug is bordered in leather. “I like things with cleaner
lines and warm colors — a balance of modern and traditional, and Richard understands that,” says Victoria Roth.
