obituaries » MARVIN FINKELSTEIN, 89, of Bloomfield Hills, died Jan. 2, 2016. He was a World War II Army Airforce veteran. The owner of Lucky Auto Sales in Pontiac for many years, he was also an active member of Congregation B’nai Israel, Elks Club, B’nai Brith and was a 32nd Degree Mason. LAWRENCE MANNING, of San Rafael, Calif., formerly of Detroit, died Dec. 22, 2015. He earned his B.A. from Michigan State University and his J.D. from Wayne State University School of Law. He prac- ticed law in San Francisco. Mr. Manning will be remembered by family and friends for his biting, infec- tious and sometimes irreverent humor and wit, his encompassing love and uncompromising loyalty to his family and friends, for the bonds he created between family and friends and his constant effort to maintain those rela- tionships, and his ability to be humble, kind and even self-effacing. He will be missed by many, but not forgotten. As the recipients of that love and friend- ship, many will smile and laugh when recounting the stories and events that made him special.
