Memorial Park Cemetery in Livonia.

BERTHA M. WEIL, former Detroiter of
Beachwood, Ohio, passed away Sept. 30,
2015.
She lived in Michigan until 2003, when
she moved to Beachwood. She earned
a B.A. at Wayne State University and
an M.A., at the University of Michigan.
Bertha worked professionally for the U.S.
government, state of Michigan and city
of Detroit; she retired as a public school
teacher. She was a life member of AFL-CIO
AFT, local 231.
Ms. Weil was an ardent Zionist and very
active in both the ZOA and AIPAC and
was a life member of Na'amat. She was also
an early supporter of the WWII memorial
in Washington.
She could play the piano by ear from the
age of 3 and music was one of her great
loves throughout her life. She was the
last president of the Music Study Club of
Metropolitan Detroit. She was also a mem-
ber of the Cleveland Institute of Music and

the Cleveland Museum of Art. When she
moved to Cleveland, she became of mem-
ber of the Park Synagogue. Bertha traveled
broadly and was also a voracious reader.
Ms. Weil was the sister of the late Major
Max Weil, the late Leona Krieger (John)
and the late Alice Weil. She was the loving
aunt of Dr. Marian Krieger, Kevin Krieger
(Carolyn) the late Lance Weil, the late Lee
Weil and other grandnieces and grand-
nephews.
