Participating in the cere- mony were younger sister Ariana Dubin and proud grandparents Susan and Dr. Terry Weingarden, and Carole and Dr. Howard Dubin. Josh and Samantha are grandchildren of the late Sheila Dubin and are great-grandchil- dren of Sylvia Roth. Josh and Samantha are students at Norup International School in Oak Park. Their mitzvah projects included volunteering at a summer school program for young kids with special needs. Brooke Arielle Lewis will read from the Torah on the occasion of her bat mitzvah on Friday, Dec. 4, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. She is Lewis the loving daughter of Missy and Randy Lewis and sister of Kendell. Brooke will be joined in celebration by her proud grandparents Nancy and Mark Morganroth, and Sherrill and Bernie Lewis. Brooke is a student at West Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. As part of her mitzvah project, she gave her time to plant trees in Detroit with J-Serve. She found it very meaningful to be able to directly help make a posi- tive impact on the community. Darby Abigail Marwil, daughter of Heather and Bruce Marwil, will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, Dec. 5, at Temple Israel in Marwil West Bloomfield. She will be joined in cel- ebration by her sister Sloane and proud grandparents Harriet Maza, Dr. Bernard Maza, and Susan and Brand Marwil. Darby is a student at West Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. As part of her mitzvah project, she volun- teered at Temple Israel to assist with the housing of the residents of South Oakland Shelter, which she found to be very meaningful. Evan Edmund Saroken, son of Holly and Joseph Saroken, will read from the Torah as he becomes a bar mitz- vah at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Saroken on Saturday, Dec. 5. He will be joined in celebration by his siblings Kira and Taryn and proud grandparents Lenore and Ed Mclaughlin, Gerald Saroken, Judith Edmunds, and James and Marie Edmunds. Evan is a student at West Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. As part of his mitzvah experience, he collected returnable cans and used the funds to purchase gifts for Temple Israel's No Temple Family Without a Chanukah program.
