BEST. CAMP. EVER. SINCE 1989! New Director Named At JCC Day Camps T he Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit (JCC) has named Howard Gutman director of JCC Day Camps. The announcement was made by CEO Jim Issner. In this role, Gutman will be responsible for all aspects of the JCC Summer Day Camp and Break Camp pro- grams, including the planning, Howard programming, Gutman implementation, operations and recruitment for the programs. "Howard brings tremendous day camp experience to the JCC and an incredible passion for delivering meaningful programs to our campers," Issner said. "We are excited to have him at the helm of our camp operations." Gutman has nearly 30 years of experience working in day camps with the city of Southfield. Gutman served as camp specialist with the city's day camps where he developed camp programming and was responsible for the camp budget, hiring, training and staff supervision. "I am very excited to be part of such a special program with such a proud, strong tradition. I look forward to bringing fresh ideas and new special events to the already robust programming at the JCC Day Camps," Gutman said. "Joining the JCC Day Camps is like coming home added Gutman whose first job at age 16 was at the Jewish Community Center at Curtis and Meyers. "Day camp is part of what I've done most of my adult life, pro- fessionally and personally. It's what I love. I'm what you would call a day camp lifer." A Farmington Hills resi- dent, Gutman received a bach- elor's degree from Wayne State University.
