Christian Friends
Of Israel Praised

On Sunday, Nov. 1, we had the privilege of
attending the "Thank God For Israel Day"
at the Sheraton Hotel in Novi.
This annual event, sponsored by the
Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry, is held
to educate and bring the Christian and
Jewish communities together in steadfast
support for the State of Israel.
There were 200 enthusiastic pro-Israel
supporters who attended the luncheon.
We listened with great interest to our
keynote speaker, Steven L. Pomerantz;
formerly high-ranking member with the
FBI and currently the Jewish Institute for
National Security Affairs (JINSA) director
for counter-terrorism programs.
Mr. Pomerantz spoke to us about the
issues facing Israel today, including global
tentacles of Iranian terror, Saudi Arabia,
Russia and the Iran nuclear agreement.
We came away from this experience
encouraged by our Christian friends who
expressed their wholehearted commit-
ment to the survival of the State of Israel
and its people.
As Psalm 133:1 states: "Behold, how
good and how pleasant it is for brethren to
dwell together in unity"
Our congratulations and thank you to
Rev. Tim Munger, the Friends of Israel
Great Lakes executive director, for his tire-
less efforts with this yearly program and
his organization's dedication to Israel.

JCRC Backs Settlement Of

Syrian Refugees In U.S.

Compelled by our own history, as well
as a biblical mandate to protect and wel-
come the stranger, the American Jewish
community has always advocated for
refugees.
The innocent victims of the Syrian
civil war cry out for a response from all
caring nations. The United States must
protect these asylum seekers rather than
allow them to continue to be victimized
by fear and violence.
We endorse the U.S. refugee resettle-
ment program, with its strict and multi-
layered security screenings and urge that it
must serve those in greatest need without
interruption.
In turning these refugees away, we
would be capitulating to the terrorists
who aim to undermine the values that are
the bedrock of our democratic and free
society. We must continue our country's
storied history of aiding those in dire cir-
cumstances.
