Life-Saving Work

A

record crowd attended the Dr. John
J. Mames Chapter-Michigan Region
of American Friends of Magen
David Adorn Gala at Adat Shalom Synagogue
in Farmington Hills to sponsor vital medical
supplies and paramedic training and to dedi-
cate seven ambulances and two medicycles.
Highlighting the evening was news of a
$1.5 million investment by the Marvin and
Betty Danto Family Foundation in support of
the new underground MDA National Blood
Center. MDA provides Israel's national blood
supply, including 100 percent for the IDF.
Emcees Drs. Margo and Doug Woll spoke
of the recent terror attacks in Israel and why
it is so vital to support the MDA's work.
Dr. Charles Krauthammer was the keynote
speaker, and Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder
helped honor his friend Joel Jacob, noting this
event is so meaningful "as it is about people
helping people helping people'
AFMDA Regional Director Cari Margulis
Immerman said, "We are grateful to our
Michigan donors who support the bravery of
the men and women of MDA who are on the
frontlines taking care of all Israelis — civilian
and military — every day" *

Adat Shalom's parent-toddler class
explores friendships, holidays, Shabbat.

miles were all around in Adat Shalom's par-
ent-toddler class. Teachers Julie Shiffman of
Farmington Hills and Roz Bressler of West
Bloomfield work with youngsters ages 14 months-3 years
and their special adults to explore, create and make new
friends. Art, singing, story time, Shabbat and holiday
activities as well as free play round out the morning.
Classes meet from 9:45-11:15 a.m. Open enrollment
begins Dec. 1 for winter classes: Mondays, Jan. 4-March
