New Directors

Detroit Jewish News Foundation approves four new directors,
hires administrative manager.

obin Axelrod, Amanda Fisher,
David Kramer and Mitchell
ondry have been approved by
the Detroit Jewish News Foundation for
initial three-year terms, effective Jan. 1,
2016, on its 15-member board of direc-
tors. They will be replacing Pamela
Applebaum, Mark Bernstein, Jonathan
Frank and Martin Maddin, whose terms
conclude on Dec. 31.
The board voted to designate
Applebaum, Bernstein, Frank and Maddin
as founding board members and to
include them on the Foundation's honor-
ary board chaired by Eugene Applebaum,
Mandell L. Berman, Avern Cohn and
Michael Steinhardt.
Robin Axelrod is an Ann Arborite who
serves as director of education at the
Holocaust Memorial Center Zekelman
Family Campus. She previously directed
the Sol Drachler Program in Jewish
Communal Leadership at the University
of Michigan and has held clinical faculty
positions at its School of Social Work and
Frankel Center for Judaic Studies. She is
active in Ann Arbor and nationally as
a Jewish communal volunteer. Axelrod
possesses bachelor's and master's degrees
from the University of Michigan as well as
a certificate in Jewish Communal Studies
and Judaic Studies. She earned her juris
doctor from Wayne State University.
Detroit-area native Amanda Fisher is
a graduate of U-M with a degree in mar-
keting and advertising. She founded her
own public relations and event produc-
tion company, with a focus on assisting
organizations or companies that were
looking to elevate the communities they
serve. She is also associated with Hall and
Hunter Realtors in Birmingham. Her vol-
unteer activities include Leaders for Kids
at the Children's Hospital of Michigan
Foundation and the Detroit Institute of
Arts. She is the newest trustee of the Max
M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Foundation.
David Kramer is a senior vice presi-
dent and practice leader for Oswald
Companies' Lawyers' Professional
Liability (LPL) practice. Prior to joining
Oswald, Kramer worked for a national
broker, specializing in lawyers' profession-
al liability insurance and acting as general
counsel. He is the immediate past chair of
Orchards Children's Services, a past presi-
dent of the Young Adult Division of the
Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit
and serves on the board of Hebrew Free

Loan. He is a recipient of the Federation's
Frank A. Wetsman Young Leadership
Award. Kramer received his undergradu-
ate degree from University of Michigan
and his juris doctor from the George
Washington University Law School.
Mitchell Mondry is founder and
president of the Birmingham-based M
Group and is responsible for overseeing
all aspects of the company's investment
activity. Prior to founding M Group, he
was vice president of stores and customer
service for Highland Superstores Inc.,
a publicly traded 92-store chain of con-
sumer electronics and appliance stores.
Mondry serves as a member of the board
of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy
and the advisory board of the Zell Lurie
Institute of Entrepreneurial Studies at
the University of Michigan. He is also a
board member of Challenge Detroit and
the Jewish Fund of Metropolitan Detroit.
He is a former director of the Michigan
Strategic Fund. Mondry received a
bachelor's degree, master of business
administration and juris doctor from the
University of Michigan.
Tessa Goldberg joins the Detroit Jewish
News Foundation as its first administra-
tive manager. Well known in the Detroit
area Jewish community, she has previ-
ously served as executive director at

Temple Beth El and
Congregation Beth
Ahm. She is respon-
sible for managing
various aspects of the
Foundation's work,
including community
engagement. Her addi-

tional work experience
Tessa Goldberg
includes serving as
development director
for the National Music Institute and talent
manager for the Broder Talent Group.
