DETROITERS IN ISRAEL?

Renovations at an apartment in Budapest
uncovered thousands of documents from
1944 cataloging the Jewish population of the
Hungarian capital, reports the Times of Israel.
The 6,300 documents date from just before
the confinement of Hungarian Jews to the
Budapest ghetto in 1944. In May of that year,
city officials drafted a list of the city's popula- A wall decoration in Budapest's

Jews, detailing addresses, identities and cost of
rent. The newfound documents detail residents from just four of the city's districts.
A month later, 220,000 Jews were forced into a ghetto, then sent to their deaths in
Auschwitz. An estimated 600,000 Hungarian Jews were killed in the Holocaust. *

A TWIN VENUS?

This artist's conception, made by Dana

Berry of SkyWorks and provided by NASA,

shows GJ 1132b.

There's a new rocky Earth-size planet 39 light
years away, and it's a sizzler.
The newfound world, GJ 1132b, can hit 450
degrees, but it's cool enough to have a thick
Venus-like atmosphere.
While the scientists say the planet is too hot for
life, it's still much cooler than the rocky fireballs
known to orbit stars beyond our solar system.
"Our ultimate goal is to find a twin Earth:' said
astronomer David Charbonneau of the Harvard-
Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, "but along
the way we've found a twin Venus:' *

Artist Deborah Kass created the
bright yellow sculpture, titled "OY/
YO',' that was placed last week in
Brooklyn Bridge Park, near the East
River separating the two boroughs,
according to reports. It is scheduled
to remain there until August.
Those viewing from Brooklyn see
"oy;" Manhattanites see "yo."
"The fact that this particular
work resonates so beautifully in so
many languages to so many com-

munities is why I wanted to make
it monumental," Kass told The New
York Times. "This is New York, baby.
We've got it all. And the sculpture
covers it all:' *
