A I:Warr Diezu-

The round Lillian August kitchen

table, which seats eight comfortably, has a distressed

wood top banded around the sides with metal. "You

can't scratch it, you can't kill it,"Weinstein says. The

chairs, covered in Kravet fabric, and the lighting

fixture reinforce the circle theme. The wall is spotted

with a series of Fornasetti plates featuring the litho-

printed face of Lina Cavalieri, a turn-of-the-century

Italian opera singer whose photo the designer came

across in an old magazine in 1952.

"I always wanted to be 'the' house. I just had

10 boys sleep over for Halloween,"the homeowner

says. "We entertain a lot — I'll host anything, any

time, and I tend to be more fun than formal:' In an

upstairs loft, the four kids have a common area

outside their bedrooms which allows them space to

chill, but entertain, too. A wall clad with reclaimed

wood is filled with pieces (all from Home Goods)

inspired by the kids, as Weinstein got to know them

during the project. Stain-resistant (and local) Crypton

fabric covers the sectional, window seat and pillows.
