FINE CHINESE DINING

A wonderful adventure in fine dining" - Danny Raskin

accessories manager in New York" to
arrange a presentation that could lead
to editorial for fashion shoots for their
magazines. Soon, Egren's work was
appearing in fashion shoots in maga-
zines including Cosmopolitan, Lucky,
Natural Health and Fit Pregnancy.
"I'm very lucky to work with amazing,
creative people to provide jewelry for
national and international magazines:'
Egren says.
She also has developed a client base
in New York, where she spends half her
time, and supplies trunk shows at the
Plaza Hotel and in East Hampton, as well
as Greenwich, Conn.
Last month, Karen Egren Studio
celebrated its first anniversary in its
Birmingham space — shared with Nina
McLemore Studio — designed by Ron
Rea to create a loosely industrialized

space, softened with comfortably chic
couches and floor-to-ceiling windows.
The space reflects the elegance and
attention to detail that Egren prides her-
self on giving her customers.
She also believes in giving back and
contributes to fundraising events for
organizations such as Voss Water, for
whom she created a necklace collection
to benefit water projects in Africa, "for
people who have never even seen a fau-
cet:' she says.
She's inspired daily by the positive
approach of Kabbalah and attends the
Kabbalah Centre of New York on Friday
nights when she's in town. It's helped
her stay open to opportunities. "The
most important thing is the journey
and meeting good people. It's all about
embracing goodness and living each
day to the fullest:' *
