Rub-A-Dub 40th anniversary fundraiser honors Doreen Hermelin, a founder of the event. 0 n Aug. 19, more than 600 guests flocked to Franklin Hills Country Club for ORT's Annual Rub-a-Dub fundraiser, this year themed "ORTourage." Doreen Hermelin of Bingham Farms was honored for her 40-plus years of inspiring leadership and ongoing service to ORT. This year also marked the 40th anniversary of Rub-a-Dub, which started in the Hermelin home in 1975. In the spirit of the first Rub-a-Dub, guests were given Instant Lottery Tickets, which they "rubbed off" after Doreen was presented with the Rub-a-Dub Legacy Award. Any earnings from the lottery tickets were donated back to ORT. This year's event generated nearly $560,000, making it the most successful Rub-a-Dub to date. ORT supporters enjoyed silent and live auctions, dinner, music and socializing, all to support ORT's global network of schools, col- leges, training centers and programs. Event co-chairs were Matt Ran and Erica Kleiman, both of Bloomfield Hills, and Bubba Urdan of West Bloomfield. * Ira Jaffe, Eugene Applebaum, honoree Doreen Susie Sillman, Florine Mark and David Gans, Hermelin, ORT America Michigan Region Director Rub-a-Dub raffle chair Nicole Miller, Arlene Barris and Brenda Jaffe Planning committee members: Marcie Orley, Diane Orley Josh Levine, Sam Schiffer, Johannah Schiffer and Shayna Jordon Wertheimer, planning committee member, Jeff and Sandy Shecter.
