OUR JN MISSION

The Jewish News aspires to communicate news and opinion that's useful, engaging, enjoyable and unique. It strives to reflect the full range of diverse viewpoints while
also advocating positions that strengthen Jewish unity and continuity. We desire to create and maintain a challenging, caring, enjoyable work environment that encourages
creativity and innovation. We acknowledge our role as a responsible, responsive member of the community. Being competitive, we must always strive to be the most respected,
outstanding Jewish community publication in the nation. Our rewards are informed, educated readers, very satisfied advertisers, contented employees and profitable growth.

The difference in the diets included a
variation in fiber, calcium, magnesium,
potassium, protein, total fat, saturated fat,
polyunsaturated fat, and monosaturated fat.
The sodium intake was the same in all three
diets (less than 3,000 mg) based on 2.100
calorie diet.

The DASH Trial demonstrated that the
combination diet could help lower blood
pressure.

O

K, having 270,000 plus digital

pages of the IN to play with for
the past two years in the William
Davidson Digital Archives has been great.
But, now, we get to work with
thousands of pages from the Jewish
Chronicle! A century of Jewish com-
munity history, as well as the history of
Detroit, Michigan and America, at our
fingertips.
So, I took a dive into the early issues of
the Chronicle. I discovered that, if it were
1916, I could "Visit the Liberty Hungarian
Kosher Restaurant and feel right:'
Want to impress your friends at the
ball? A man could rent a dress suit from

Schaffners and visit Henry the Hatter for
the latest style of chapeau while his wife
purchased a high-fashion gown for $35 at
Kline's.
Or, one can see photos of landmarks of
Jewish Detroit such as the 1916 editions
of the Temple Beth El or Shaarey Zedek
synagogues.
On a more somber note, one can also
see that the Detroit Committee for the
Relief of Jewish Sufferers was urging read-
ers to give generously to those suffering
the ravages of World War I.
And, this is just the tip of the digital
archives iceberg. This is great history. This
is going to be fun. *
