A
t a gala that introduced a new educa-
tion outreach administrator, Oakland
County-based Jewish Ensemble
Theatre (JET) celebrated 27 years as a profes-
sional equity theater company. Harry Weaver
comes to JET from the Anti-Defamation
League-Michigan Region where he serves in a
similar capacity. He'll serve both organizations
part time.
JET and ADL will cooperate in reaching
out to schools via subsidized performances of
character education anti-bullying programs.
Weaver also schedules student groups to attend
JET performances of The Diary of Anne Frank
at the Berman Theater for the Performing Arts
in West Bloomfield. JET is dedicated to spot-
lighting a range of subjects scripted with Jewish
themes.
About 180 people attended the $150-a-plate
gala Oct. 19 at Glen Oaks Country Club in
Farmington Hills. JET honored Joyce and Dr.
George Blum for 27 years of support. Board
treasurer Lewis Tann was named Volunteer of
the Year. Event proceeds will benefit JET youth
outreach and main stage performances. *

SHE hosts three-day designer shopping event to benefit JARC.
C
aliber Collection designer Jessica Mindich
made a personal appearance at SHE
Bloomfield Hills Oct. 22 to kick off a three-
day shopping event to benefit JARC. Featuring a
trunk show with Caliber and Smythe spring 2016
collections, a portion of all sales was donated to
JARC, a Farmington Hills nonprofit that aids people
with disabilities.
The Caliber Collection, which takes a stand against
gun control by crafting jewelry from serial numbers
from illegal guns and bullet casings taken off the
streets in Hartford, Conn., Newark, N.J. and Detroit,
and Smythe, a celebrity favorite that draws from
nostalgic colors and traditional menswear details, are
both sought-after collections that SHE stores owner
Sharon Eisenshtadt knew would draw shoppers.
At the heart, though, was creating a fun event that
would help JARC.
"What I love most about partnering with JARC is
what I call JARC-heart — everything they do is for
the people they serve Eisenshtadt says. "My clien-
tele recognizes this ... It's a perfect fit because they
really want to come out to support them:'
Event committee members included Eisenshtadt,
Jennifer Gilbert, Lauren Bienenstock, Sherri Ketai,
Courtney Colton, Stacey Wittenberg, Rachel
Schostak, Stephanie Freedman, Lindsay Dembs,
Renee Erlich and Rebecca Abel Glass. *
