Sweet Sukkah

JFS attracts b'nai mitzvah students to its Because We Care Sukkot program.

G

litter. Pool noodles. And plenty of chocolate
syrup. Those were just a few of the key ingredi-
ents Sept. 20 when 15 kids gathered at Jewish
Family Service in West Bloomfield for "Sundaes in the
Sukkah," the agency's kick-off event for its Because We
Care program for b'nai mitzvah students.
Rabbi Yisrael Pinson talked to the group about the
importance of the holiday and what it means to be part of
our community. Julia Kessler-Hollar of JFS talked about
the types of families the agency serves.
Fun — and ice cream — was had by all, thanks in part
to donations from Home Depot (sukkah), Busch's (sundae
bar), Star Trax and Winning Imprints (color-changing
water bottles). *
