life cycles >> Ask the Orthodontist Ask the Orthodontist For those who don't know, October is National Orthodontic Health Month.This is a month long event organized by the American Association of Orthodontists, or AAO. During October, members of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) conduct a wide range of activities to educate dentist, orthodontists and their patients about protecting their teeth during Halloween, as well as share information about the benefits of orthodontic treatment. JUNE 25 Malach Jeffrey and Samantha Malach of Highland Park, Ill., are thrilled to announce the birth of their son, Casey Max Malach. Proud grandparents are Suzi and Steve Malach of West Bloomfield, and Susan and Dr. Richard Isaacson of Highland Park, Ill. Beaming great-grandmother is Natalie Senoff, also of Highland Park. Casey is named in loving memory of his mater- nal great-grandfather Daniel Charles Senoff and his paternal great-grandfather Cecil Charles Malach. Matthew Alexander Berg, son of Carolyn Fox Berg and Adam Berg and brother of Morgan Sydney Berg, will become a bar mitzvah on Saturday, Oct 17, at Adat Berg Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills. Matthew is the maternal grandson of Michael and Barbara Fox, and the pater- nal grandson of Micki Berg and David Berg. He is also the great-grandson of Edith West and Rachel Fox, and the late Sidney Fox, Morris West, Ruth Grossberg, Jennie Berg and Morris Berg. Matthew attends O.E. Dunckel Middle School in Farmington Hills. His mitz- vah project was working with Meals on Wheels in Detroit. Ariana Gabrielle Beard will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield. She is the Beard daughter of Nicole Beard and Chris Beard. Ari is the older sister of Alex and granddaughter of Carole and Norman Hyman, and Judy and Larry Beard. She is a student at Norup International School in Oak Park. As part of her mitz- vah experiences, her most meanin is her impending project: organizing a Get Fit Detroit Youth Day at an inner city recreation center, helping to raise funds for underprivileged children to afford participation in sport activities. Ellenbogen Jacob Kramer Ellenbogen (Yaachov Avram) will celebrate becoming a bar mitz- vah on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Congregation Beth Ahm in West Bloomfield. Joining in his celebration will be his parents, Aaron and Jennifer Ellenbogen; his brother Henry; his sister Laura; and proud grandparents, Richard and Gail Ellenbogen of Austin, Texas, and Robert and Judee Sternberg of West Bloomfield. Jacob is an eighth-grader at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills. He is the son of Harvey and Ruth, Hurwitz brother of Sam and the grandson of Charlotte Corner. Eli is also the grandson of the late Phillip Corner and the late Sam and the late Jeannette Hurwitz. Eli is an eighth-grader at Norup International School in Oak Park. He participated in PeerCorps Detroit for his mitzvah project, volunteering his time at D-Town Farms and Mt.
