Smith, who presented the idea for
the series to Winfrey after his co-
directors (Michael Davie and Eric
Strauss) suggested it, points out that
the programming also spotlights

at the centerpiece of a segment.
Astronaut Jeffrey Hoffman, for exam-

looking at Earth from outer space.
