Rachel Jane
Applefield will
become a bat mitzvah
at Temple Israel in
West Bloomfield on
Saturday, Oct. 3. She
is the loving daughter
of Beth Lieberman
Applefield
and Dr. Michael
Applefield, and sister
of Justin and Joanie. Rachel is the grand-
child of Lynn and Paul Lieberman, and
the late Joan and late Sheldon Applefield,
and great-grandchild of Ruth Miller.
Rachel is a student at Cranbrook
Kingswood Girls' Middle School in
Bloomfield Hills. For her mitzvah experi-
ence, she donated to St. Jude Children's
Research Hospital to help in the research
and treatment of kids with cancer and
other life-threatening diseases.

Alexander Logan
Bean of Franklin,

Torah as a bar mitz-
vah at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek in
Southfield on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Sharing in the celebration were proud
grandparents Robert and Leslie Jacobs,
Steven and Bette Glickfield, and
Stephen and Cadine Bean.
Alexander is a student at Hillel Day
School of Metropolitan Detroit in
Farmington Hills. His most meaning-
ful mitzvah projects included vol-
unteering for ORT's Rub-a-Dub and
collecting tennis racquets for kids in

Detroit.

Eric Bradley Becker,
son of Jodi and Adam
Becker of Bloomfield
Hills, will be called to

the Torah on
Saturday, Oct. 3, at
Temple Beth El in
Bloomfield Township.
Becker
He represents the
sixth generation of his
family's membership with the congrega-
tion. He is the grandson of Arline Carris
and the late Harry Carris, Ricki Becker
and Joe Becker. Eric is the brother of
Ryan and Ellory, who are very excited to
share this simchah with him. Eric is the
great-grandson of the late Hyman and
late Evelyn Sipher, and the late Sylvan
and late Norma Stillman.
Eric attends West Hills Middle School
in West Bloomfield. Among his many
meaningful mitzvah projects, he has
enjoyed reading to children at Bagley
Elementary in Detroit.

Mitchell Aaron
Blackman will read
from the Torah on the
occasion of his bar
mitzvah at Temple
Israel in West
jig Bloomfield on
Saturday, Oct. 3. He is

Betsy Blackman, and
Jeffrey and Sari Blackman. He will be
joined in celebration by his siblings
Matthew Blackman and Andrew Baskin.
His proud grandparents are Joan and
Sherman Char, Linda and Sidney
Blackman, Janet Gladstone and Terry
Gladstone. Mitchell is also the grandson
of the late Karen Blackman.
Mitchell attends James R. Geisler
Middle School in Commerce Township.
As part of his many mitzvah experiences,
he volunteered for the Miracle League,
playing baseball with children with dis-
abilities. He found the experience to be
very meaningful.

Anthony Michael
Dziuba, son of
Timothy and Julie
Dziuba, will celebrate
his bar mitzvah
Saturday, Oct. 3, at
Congregation
Shaarey Zedek in
Dziuba
Southfield. He is the
brother of Caitlyn and
Isabel, and the grandson of Anne and
Edward Dziuba, Marilyn Kales and Paul
Sacks; great-grandson of Paul Kales and
the late Lorraine Kales.
Anthony attends Abbott Middle
School in West Bloomfield. He has done
several mitzvah projects, but his most
meaningful one was helping his Boy
Scout troop bake and package cookies
for the homeless.

Chloe Jane Franklin
will be called to the
Torah on Saturday,
Oct. 3, at Temple
Emanu-El in Oak
Park. Celebrating with
Chloe will be her
proud parents, Amy
Franklin
and Todd Franklin,
her big sister Lily and
grandparents Elizabeth and Eliot Bank,
Jerry and Carol Franklin, and Edee
Franklin.
Chloe is a seventh-grade student at
Norup International in Oak Park. She
has found great passion during her
mitzvah project of collecting toiletries
for women who have fallen victims of
human trafficking. Her grandmother
Edee Franklin started a home for
these woman, Sanctum House (www.
Sanctumhouse.org).
