Ethics and Values

Pirkei Avot (Ethics of

"We are using organic, grass-
fed, hormone- and antibiotic-free
meat products. Our cheese sauce,
dressings and pita are made ino-
house. We're getting spinach pie
from Astoria and bringing in cool
things from Detroit. We'll be serv-
ing Vernors, McClures, Better Made
Potato Chips and a bunch of other
rotating small batch Detroit prod-
ucts. Expect a Sanders ice cream
dessert, perhaps a Faygo flavor here
and there, and maybe even some
Mackinac Island fudge down the
line??"

coney dog at Ed & Bev's in Brooklyn:

ax and Eli Sussman, the
intrepid brothers from
Huntington Woods who
have made a name for themselves
in New York as innovative chefs and
new restaurateurs, opened their
second restaurant on the auspicious
date of Sept. 11 — a very serious day
in New York City, but also their Nana
Beverly's birthday.
Appropriate to the birthday, the
new shop is called Ed and Bev's
Detroit Style Coney Island. It is
located directly next to their Samesa
shwarma shop — also reminiscent of
their Detroit roots — at Berg'n, a hip
food and beer hall in Crown Heights,
Brooklyn.
"The restaurant is named after
our incredible Papa Edward and our
endlessly loving and caring Nana
Beverly," claimed a Facebook post
from the brothers.
"Ed & Bev's is based on our love
for the Detroit 'Coney Island, which
is a Greek-style diner specializing
in Coney dogs (hot dog with chili,
white onions and mustard), Greek
salad, saganaki (flaming cheese) and
other Detroit delicacies:' they say in
the FB post.
