On Sept. 16, at the Max M. Fisher
Federation Building, in celebra-
tion of Patriot Week, the Jewish Bar
Association of Michigan (JBAM) pre-
sented a panel of legal and academic
scholars who discussed how diverse
racial, ethnic, religious, gender and
socio-economic groups worked
together to secure civil rights for all.
On the panel was Judge Michael
Warren of the Oakland County
Circuit Court, Professor Howard
Lupovitch, director of the Cohn-
Haddow Center for Judaic Studies at
Wayne State University, and Marla
Linderman, a civil rights attorney.
JBAM's Jonathan H. Schwartz
said the presentation "encouraged
us to continue working together to
further the cause of civil rights and
to prevent backsliding on hard-won
progress:'
As well as JBAM and Patriot Week,
sponsors were the Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit, the Cohn-
Haddow Center, the Women Lawyers
Association of Michigan and FedEd.
