DR. BURTON J.
BACHER passed

away Sept. 3,
2015. He was
born Dec. 13,
1925.
A veteran of
World War II, he
Bacher
served as a mor-
tar gunner in France.
Nationally known as an obstet-
ric and gynecologic surgeon for
Jehovah's Witnesses, he was a
graduate of New York University
College of Medicine and a Fellow of
the American Board of Obstetrics
and Gynecology. He practiced in
the Detroit area for more than 40
years, primarily at Hutzel, Detroit-
Macomb and Sinai hospitals.
In retirement, he served as a
volunteer physician and member
of the board of directors for the
Father Pops Free Medical Clinic in
Pontiac that serves the poor.
Dr. Bacher is survived by his lov-
ing wife of 29 years, Helen Bacher;
daughter, Allyn (Jeffrey) Chong;
sons, Michael (Kim) Bacher and
Adam (Evelyn) Bacher; stepdaugh-
ters, Lynn Lanese Gumina and
Jeannie (Jim) Riek; grandchildren,
Eli, Jacob, Andrew, Kathleen, Mia,
Gregory, William, Alex and Callie.
He was predeceased by his sister,
Michelle Zung, and brother, Jesse
Bacher.
Contributions may be made to
the American Diabetes Association.

late Esther Eilender; the dear sister
of the late Dr. Marvin Eilender.
Interment was at Clover Hill
Park Cemetery. Contributions may
