Fr3Igargiship Circle event
draws huge crowd to' support
programs for those with special needs.

M

ore than 5,000 walkers came out
in support of Friendship Circle's
10th annual Walk4Friendship
on Sunday, Sept. 6, participating in either a
1 mile or 5K (3-mile) walk.
Raising more than $560,000, which
includes a challenge grant of $25,000 from
an anonymous donor, Friendship Circle
strives to reach its $600,000 goal this year as
the organization continues to raise aware-
ness and show love and passion for children
and adults with special needs. The funds
raised go to help support more than 40
weekly and seasonal programs.
Walk4Friendship has become a tradition
in the community and creates a tie that
binds people from all walks of life. "Pure
Friendship:' the 2015 theme, symbolizes the
very essence of the Friendship Circle.

Former WXYZ-TV news anchor Diana
Lewis and Charlie Langton of WWJ-950
and WJBK-FOX 2 once again served as
emcees and led this year's event, which
began with a shofar blast in honor of the
High Holidays. Also on hand were Oakland
Country Treasurer Andy Meisner, U.S. Rep.
Brenda Lawrence and West Bloomfield
Township Supervisor Michelle Economou
Ureste.
Highlights included stilt walkers, a foam
pit, circus performance, horse and train
rides, a sensory tent and a zip line. Of
course, the French Fry Station, Jerusalem
Pizza and snow cones were a huge hit for
children and adults.
Donations still are welcome at
