Beaumont Sets
Event To Discuss
'Unmentionables'
LAKES URGENT CARE
When your health concerns can't wait.
U
nderstandably, it's some-
thing women don't like
to talk about, but mil-
lions nationwide experience blad-
der issues, pelvic pain and sexual
dysfunction.
Longtime urologist and medi-
cal director of the Beaumont
Women's Urology Center, Kenneth
Peters, M.D., says, "Many women
are too embarrassed to discuss
these conditions with their doc-
tor or believe nothing can be
done — as a result, they continue
to suffer. There are a number
of effective treatments for 'the
unmentionables: Medical advanc-
es and newer treatments could
dramatically improve their quality
of life."
From 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday,
Sept. 24, Beaumont Women's
Urology Center is hosting an
evening education program for
women at Beaumont Hospital-
Royal Oak. The program includes
a panel discussion and light
refreshments. Spouses and friends
are also welcome to attend.
In addition to an overview of
incontinence, pelvic pain and
sexual dysfunction, Peters will be
joined by a panel of experts.
"We've assembled a panel of
physicians and women's health
experts to discuss the latest treat-
ment options for these common
conditions:' says Peters, also chief
of urology at Beaumont-Royal
Oak.
"I want this to be an interactive
program. We will welcome ques-
tions from the audience:'
In 2010, Beaumont opened
a Women's Urology Center at
Beaumont-Royal Oak, the first
center in the Midwest dedicated
and designed for women's urolog-
ical care and sexual dysfunction.
In six years, the medical team
has built a national following
with innovative treatments and
research, and they have treated
patients from 40 states and four
countries.
While there is no fee to attend
the event, registration is required.
Space is limited.
The event will be held on the
first floor of the Administration
Building, 3601 W. 13 Mile Road,
Royal Oak. To register, call (248)
551-8765.
