JCRC To Host Annual
Meeting On Sept. 10

Council's Annual
Meeting at 7 p.m.

Detroit and his friendship with Detroit's
Jewish community.
Jenereaux was named president and
publisher of the Detroit Free Press in April
and also serves as president of Michigan.
com. A Detroit native, she started her
media career in 1990 as a financial analyst
at Michigan.com. She is board chairman
of Forgotten Harvest and serves on the
boards of the Detroit
Economic Club, the
Inforum Center for
Leadership, Detroit
Public Television and
CATCH.
Thompson is an
op-ed columnist for
the Detroit News,
Bankole
where his column
Thompson
appears every
Thursday. For nine years, he served as editor
of the Michigan Chronicle, leading news cov-
erage and directing its editorial department.
During his tenure, he pushed for issues that
brought blacks and Jews together, culminat-
ing in the first Black-Jewish Forum sym-
posium. He also is the author of two books
on President Obama, and he hosts a weekly
public affairs program on WDET.
JCRC will hold its annual election of offi-
cers and board members at the meeting and
several by-laws changes will be voted on by
the member organization representatives.
Dr. Richard Krugel has been nominated to
serve a second year as JCRC president. Vice
presidential candidates are Mary Ellen
Gurewitz and Sue Luria. Nancy Welber Barr
is nominated as treasurer. Nominees slated
for three-year terms on the board are Vicki
Barnett, Eric Bronstein, Howard Friedman,
Micki Grossman, Jeffery Hollander, Rabbi
Yechiel Morris, Phil Neuman, Ellie Slovis and
Abbe Binder Sherbin.
Sharon Lipton, JCRC immediate past
president, served as chair of the nominating
committee. Additional committee members
were Elaine Driker, Mickey Eizelman, Marcy
Feldman, Lisa Lis, Sandy Matz and Hy
Safran.
