DAVID SHAPIRO,
88, a resident of
Deerfield Beach, Fla.,
for the past 32 years,
formerly of Detroit,
passed away Aug. 25,
2015, in Pompano
Beach, Fla.
Shapiro
David served our
country in the U.S. Navy. He was a busi-
ness owner in the automotive industry.
He was a member of B'nai B'rith.
Left to cherish his memory are his
wife, Lenore Shapiro; his loving son,
Jerome (Leslie) Shapiro; his daughters,
Mona Kaholokula and Arlene Shapiro;
his cherished grandchildren, Alana and
Ka'ua Koholokula. He is also survived
by his sister in-law, Eleanor Shapiro.
He was predeceased by his brother,
Herman Shapiro. He was also prede-
ceased by his sister, Rose, and her hus-
band, Morrey Moss.

JACK AARON
SHAY, 84, of Delray
Beach, Fla., passed
away at Delray
Medical Center on
his 84th birthday,
Aug. 6, 2015.
He enlisted in the
Shay
Navy at age 17 and
became a decorated airman and artil-
lery instructor on the BB62 (battleship
New Jersey) during his service in the
Korean War. He was a 32nd Degree
Mason in Oak Park-Craftsman-Berkley
Lodge as well as a past master and
proud Shriner. Jack was a ham radio
enthusiast and loved his police scan-
ner and CB radio. He and his late wife,
Zelda, retired to Delray Beach in 2001.
He leaves behind his sister and
brother-in-law, Carol and Ron Bigman;
his daughters, Nanci Shay and Holly
Rotter; son-in-law, David Rotter; his
two precious grandsons, Daniel and
Mitchell Rotter, who were the twinkle
in his blue eyes.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, Philip and Pearl Shiovitz; his
brother, Jerry Shiovitz, and his wife of
52 years, Zelda (Mintz).

For the past few years she worked
for MetroPlus in NYC doing unitiza-
tion reviews. She also did restaurant
reviews and, when living in Florida,
she wrote articles for the Sun-Sentinel
and Hollywood Gazette.
Mrs. Burdick Sherman is survived
by her husband, Mark Sherman;
daughter, Sabrina Sherman; sister
and brother-in-law, Alice Burdick
Schweiger and Bruce Schweiger; niece,
Melissa Schweiger Kleinman; nephew;
Eric Schweiger. She is also survived by
her sister, Linda Burdick Lautrec, and
niece, Daniele De Leone.
She was the daughter of the late
Judge Irwin Burdick and the late
Jeannette Burdick.
The funeral was held at Montefiore
Cemetery in Queens, N.Y.

Mrs. Sonenklar was the beloved wife
of the late Sol Sonenklar; the loving
sister of the late Shirley and the late
Fred Richter, the late Al and the late
Helen Kaplan, the late Phil and the late
Bea Kaplan; the dear sister-in-law of
the late Claire Tucker, the late Jerome
and the late Adele Sonenklar.
Interment was at Clover Hill Park
