Kid Yoga

Dedicated teachers
bring the benefits to moms, tots.

I

t's mid-morning on a Wednesday and a group of moms —
babies in hand — are in no particular hurry to leave Honey
Studio after an hour of yoga designed to deepen the parent-
child connection and allow the women a rare chance to do
something beneficial for themselves and their babies.
While there is no shortage of yoga opportunities in Metro
Detroit, Honey Studio in Royal Oak and the soon-to-open
Born Yoga in Birmingham offer something very different
to the yoga scene by collectively catering to moms, babies,
children and teens. And, both happen to be owned by Jewish
women with a passion for yoga and helping others.
On Sept. 12, Ashley Goldberg plans an open house celebra-
tion for Born Yoga. Once open, classes will be geared toward

Everyone's Garden fulfills
needs for every kind
of volunteer.

ommunity gardens are a common sight in Detroit
and its suburbs, but Everyone's Garden in Berkley
goes a step beyond the usual intent of providing
fresh produce for neighbors.
The garden, about a half-acre split between two plots, not
only provides vegetables for local food banks, but also offers
learning experiences for people with special needs.
The tomatoes, lettuce, beets, turnips, eggplant, kale and
other produce grown in Everyone's Garden are donated to
Yad Ezra, the kosher food bank in Berkley, and Open Hands,
