We know that fashion is important to us personally. It has also played a major
role for National Council of Jewish Women, Greater Detroit Section. In 1934,
NCJW/Greater Detroit opened its first resale shop in Detroit. For over 80
years we have operated a store in which proceeds benefit our community
service projects, advocacy work, and programs.

In addition to fashion benefiting us locally, fashion has played an essential role
for NCJW in Israel. As part of our Israel granting program, NCJW provides
funding for a program called "Turning the Tables." This program provides
economic and professional empowerment to women who exit the destructive
cycle of sex-trafficking and prostitution. The mission is to provide vocational
training, to develop self-worth, and to promote an alternative livelihood
through a variety of courses in different specialties of fashion.
