On July 3, 50 participants cel­ July ebrated Shabbat Under the Stars and Stripes with a special Kabbalat Shabbat service, kosher dinner and fireworks at the Lincoln Hills Golf Course. The group gathered late afternoon for a tailgate party in Seaholm High School's park­ ing lot, where they lit Shabbat candles and welcomed Shabbat. They walked together to the golf course where they enjoyed a take­ out Shabbat dinner and a spirited Kabbalat � »« Shabbat service led by Hazzan David Propis, using prayer booklet in Hebrew, English and transliterated Hebrew created by Propis. a A medley of patriotic songs followed, inspir­ ing others in the community to join in as the packed golf course settled in for a spectacular display of fireworks. On July 5, the CSZ Empty Nesters joined other Jewish community groups at a Detroit Tigers game.
