dy Weiss has a plan.
She and her husband, Steve, want to be
involved in as much of their grandchildren's
lives as possible. So they've created a child-magnet
wonderland in their White Lake home to nudge the
process along.
Andy, a Temple Israel preschool teacher, grew up in
Cleveland, where, she says, "Everyone belonged to a
swim club, so pools were part of my childhood:'

of West Bloomfield, Debra Weiss of Chicago and
Eric Weiss of Commerce — the girls were born in
Cleveland, and while Andy worked, her mom took care
of the kids. "My mom is 93 now, and she and my kids
have a very close relationship, in part because of the
time they spent together when they were little:' Andy
says. Even after she and Steve, a businessman, relo-
cated to Michigan, Andy made it a priority for her kids
to talk to grandma often. "I wanted my kids to know
they have a family."

So far, only Jodi and husband, Mike, have kids
(Brady is 6 1/2 and Bryce, 4 V2), but Andy still hopes for
a brood (Eric and wife Katie are expecting their first
child this month). "I want that kind of relationship
with my grandkids," she says. "I want my home to be a
second home to them."
So last year, she and Steve added to their 10-year-old
home. Building a sprawling pool, lounging space and
more, completed last October, Camp Weiss, courtesy of
Mimi and Pa, is officially open for business. •
