Precious metals, such as silver and gold, are important to his style. "Every six months, I come up with a new collection:' Stern says. "My jew- elry is designed to enhance the beauty of the wearers and not to take them oven" Wasserman, who works with fused glass, will be marking her seventh year with the State Street Art Fair. Since 1973, she has set up booths in about 40 shows a year. Preferring flat glass melted in a kiln, Wasserman brings together pieces dec- orated by color and design and shaped into forms. She offers jewelry with religious symbols, mezuzahs, meno- rahs and Sabbath (and sushi) plates. "Everything I make is one-of-a- kind:' says Wasserman, a member of Hadassah who works under the business name of Glitzy Glass and has studied art at Ohio State University in Columbus, Chatham University in Pittsburgh and the University of California, Santa Cruz. Aside from the religious art, she offers affordable glass nail files. The pieces of artistry for manicure and pedicure get their friction from a pro- cess using powdered titanium. "The lace designs represent heritage and have become my signature she says. "Fused glass combines ideas of Pars Mediterranean Restaurant earth, air, fire and water with a spirit of its own:" Goldberg, in his third year at the South University Art Fair, has been tak- ing pictures all his life and is self-taught as techniques upgraded. "I put pictures on canvas and prints on colored mats; Goldberg says. "The photos are very colorful" Goldberg, a member of a Conservative synagogue, has traveled to Israel but not taken artistic pictures there because he was not using digital photography at the time. "Photography is a passion, and my images are often achieved using mul- tiple exposure values to capture the range of light for maximum details:' says Goldberg, who has incorporated streetscapes and architectural perspec- tives into his portfolio. The photographer has traveled to as many as 15 fairs annually over the past eight years. He is accompanied by his wife, Carol, who serves as banker. They enjoy meeting the community of artists and fair-goers. In Indiana, he met a group of people with Irish heritage who asked for pic- tures of Ireland, He kept that in mind as he traveled the world and was able to accommodate those requests. Says Goldberg, "It's a good feeling to know that there are many houses that have my photos on their walls:' A watch by Yair Stern is adorned with Hebrew letters as numerals, after the 16th-century clock on the Prague Jewish community house. ❑ 410 ■ 17- ",-;. 20% Off Total Food Bill Exp. 09.09.15 s1-7-4101#P 4 Hours: Mon-Thur 11am-10pm Fri & Sat 11am-11pm Sunday 11am-9pm Pars Mediterranean Restaurant Buy One Entrée Get 2nd Entrée 1/2 Off Exp. 09.09.15 2004900 Fine Italian Dining in a Casual Atmosphere SPOSITA'S WE WILL BE CLOSED SATURDAY, JULY 4!
