Burton, 59, who in his shortened life touched many with his love and humor, died May 26, 2015, at his home in Superior Township. Tim was the son of Lester and Evelyn (nee Kanat) Burton. He was born in Detroit on Oct. 29, 1955, and grew up in Huntington Woods. He was the youngest of five boys with one younger sister. Tim's path to his true vocation, teaching, was full of adventure and travel. He took several stabs at college and, in 1978, he lived in the Virgin Islands for an extended period, crewing on sailboats and charters. On returning to Michigan, Tim worked in home construction and cabinet making and became, in his words, "a hell of a car- penter:' A chance encounter led Tim back to Eastern Michigan University, where he discovered a passion for teaching. He proudly completed his undergraduate work, teaching certification and mas- ter's degree in counseling. Just before his 32nd birthday, he began teaching at Ypsilanti High School, where he met his wife, Carol (nee Steinke) McNaughton. Tim finally found his professional home when he began teaching in the day treatment program at Forest School. Tim was a gifted and dedicated educator, committed to his students and colleagues. He strove to provide his students with tools to succeed in life, as he had, through his own hard times. Tim was truly in his element, giving his at-risk students essentials they sorely needed to get by. Tim was predeceased by his father, Lester. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his mother, Evelyn; brother, Eric (Lois); brother, Lee (Roberta); brother, Tony (Jane) and their children, Zoe and Owen; brother, Peter (Sandi) and their son, Chris; sister, Jody (Joe Slowins). He is survived also by Carol's children
