Jazz Tunes After
JCC Concert
Six bucks doesn't buy much these
days, but it gained entry to wit-
ness two world-class jazz musicians
perform at the Oak Park Jewish
Community Center on April 29.
Featured artists Dave Bennett
(clarinet) and Cliff Monear (piano)
gave a tour de force performance
that sent the lucky audience of
more than 100 jazz enthusiasts
home happily humming the tunes
of Gershwin, Goodman, Porter and
many others.
Sponsored jointly by the Active
Life Department of the JCC and
Village in the Woods of Huntington
Woods, the concert was "an off-
spring of the Jewish Senior Life's
Village program," says Noemi
Herzig, director of Active Life.
The event was part of the ongo-
ing Gottlieb Music Festival, which
continues through the summer and
fall of 2015. Herzig is also the direc-
tor of the JCC's Arts, Culture and

Clarinetist Bennett was declared a
child prodigy. At 12, he was invited
to the bandstand of the renowned
Sweet Basil Club in New York.
Monear is a graduate of the Berklee
College of Music. Besides perform-
ing on a regular basis, he also teach-
es music at Wayne State University.
