Expires 7-15-15 If you're not a meat eater — but even if you are — try Sasson's one-of-a-kind veggie burger. Don't expect a wimpy, frozen substitute for the real thing. The delectable, oversized black bean and brown rice patty is like nothing I've ever seen or tasted, and truly deserving of the Townhouse burger name. The Brussels sprouts are always a must, cooked long enough to call them crispy, but not so long that you're eating a plate of burnt leaves. Dinner menu highlights include the power salad, cauliflower hum- mus, macaroni and cheese, and Townhouse wings. Sasson's "Townhouse 2.0" will feature much of his Birmingham menu, with some modifications and additions. Downtown you'll be able to build-your-own burger, tacos and sliders and enjoy a "modern American dim sum" cart featuring small plate favorites from the cur- rent menu as it strolls throughout the lavish and highly anticipated space. At the RenCen's Joe Muer Seafood, Sunday brunch is back on the menu — enjoy amazing views of the Detroit River with a bite on their patio, if you can get a seat. Aaron F. Belen's Bistro 82 is again livening up the corner of 4th and Lafayette with its seasonal brunch, offering Chef Derik Watson's clever take on French fare. Around the corner, Main Street's Andiamo trattoria will introduce a brunch service this month, and Birmingham's 220 Merrill is also launching its first brunch menu with a number of unique options and an impressive build-your-own omelet. A Quick Kvetch For The City Of Birmingham I was incredibly disappointed to hear that city leaders caved to pressure from a handful of outspoken retail owners in voting to deny outdoor seating permits for Zack Sklar's pair of new restaurants Au Cochon and Arthur Avenue along Old Woodward just north of Maple. Although last fall I moved a few blocks east of the apartment I rented in downtown for four-plus years, it was always the vibrant outdoor scene that brought me to Birmingham. More mature than Royal Oak and far-less pedestrian than the strip malls of West Bloomfield, Birmingham has a SoHo feel that can remind those of us who moved back that city living doesn't require you be hundreds of miles from your Bubbie! Let's hope one shortsighted deci- sion doesn't send the wrong message to entrepreneurs like Sklar — it's my sincere hope you all continue to grow.
