in Michigan and we don't have the
people, the talent, to fill them:'
he continued. "There have been
efforts here — like Gov. Rick
Snyder and Detroit Mayor Mike
Duggan developing a summer
internship program — but we
haven't solved the equation, which
is, how do we mesh the current
and future needs of business and
the talent we develop in this state?
It requires public-private partner-
ship working to address the ques-
tion of how we attract talent to
Michigan to be that next genera-
tion of leaders, entrepreneurs and
innovators"
Conversations at the conference
on infrastructure redevelopment
and urban revitalization are also
conversations to be had across the
state, Davidoff said, and aren't just
focused on Metropolitan Detroit.
"We're talking everywhere from
Grand Rapids to Kalamazoo,
Saginaw and Flint. These are the
historic names of great cities,
and we need to continue the pro-
cess of revitalizing those urban
centers and connecting them to
one another so as a state we have
interesting places to live, work,
play and raise families. There are
many people working on that
agenda and we think in the post-
Detroit bankruptcy era with a
`fresh start moment; it's an impor-
tant time to go there:'
Jewish community leaders will
have the opportunity to keep the
momentum from the confer-
ence going, as Davidoff and Scott
Kaufman
at
Federation
are work-
ing with

year.
"It's by coincidence that it's all
coming together now, and Senor
met with members of that mission
delegation while he was on the
island:' Davidoff said.
"Our community has the role
to be engaged and be present. The
world watches this conference;
our community should watch as
well:'
