FEATURING HINDY NAJMAN SCHOLAR AUTHOR AND TEACHER WHOSE INSIGHT MAKES ANCIENT JEWISH TEXTS COME ALIVE T he annual Walk for Israel, a community celebration of the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, drew support from more than 2,000 participants on sunny May 17 at Temple Shir Shalom in West Bloomfield. For the third year, the event also included the Run for Israel 5K Family Fun Run earlier in the morning. During the event, Danielle Brickner, 22, of Lansing and her mother, Wendy Brickner of Walled Lake, received a call from their brother and son, Ryan Brickner, an Eastern Michigan University student who was in Israel on a Birthright trip.
