the woman with her had a camera. I
asked the woman if she had pictures I
could buy.
"[I found out] she was a divorced
single mother, and her brother had
given her a camera. She started taking
pictures and turned out to be a great
photographer, She went off and married
Paul McCartney" Fields' connections

Portrait, later adapted for television.
"I'm still fond of performers like

Iggy Pop, Judy Collins and David
Johansen, and I like running into
them;' says Fields, whose likes to listen
to Spotify fitness feeds at a gym so he
can dance.
"I don't go to see much music.
It's very boring for me to have to be
somewhere with everybody listening
to music unless it's a rare band I like. I
prefer going to see dance.
"I like the Fat White Family. I found
myself having dinner with them one
night, and the next night, someone
called and said they were playing in
Brooklyn. I said, 'Send an Uber for me,
and I'll come:"
Fields, always single, now spends
considerable time traveling in Europe.
"I love to go to cities, walk around and
take pictures:' he says. "I've been taking
pictures all my life. It's the only way I
have to create beautiful things:'
