Rachel is a seventh-grade student at the Norup International School in Oak Park She found that volunteering at Yad Ezra in Berkley was her most meaningful mitzvah project. Samuel Lewis Rudin will celebrate his bar mitzvah at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield when he is called to the bimah on Saturday, May 23. He is the loving son of Rudin Melissa and Michael Rudin and brother of Jack Sharing in this special occasion will be proud grandpar- ents Sharon and Robert Rudin, Allan Warnick and Jackie Cohen. Samuel is also the grandchild of the late Elizabeth Warnick. Sam attends Orchard Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield. As part of his mitzvah experience, he volunteered at the West Bloomfield Relay for Life with the Kids Conquering Cancer Team. This team was founded in 2006 after his cousin Haley was diagnosed with cancer. In Haley's and his Grandma Liz's mem- ory Sam also donated to the American Cancer Society through the team. Ruby Jane Schwartz will read from the Torah as she celebrates her bat mitzvah at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield on Friday, May 22. She is the lov- ing daughter of Schwartz Brooke and Bruce Schwartz and sister to Rocco. Sharing in her simchah will be her proud grandparents Pam Perry Frank and Mary Ellen Perry, and great-grandmother Julia Perry. Ruby is also the granddaughter of the late Ruth and late Bernard Schwartz. Ruby is a student at Berkshire Middle School in Birmingham. Her mitzvah project included raising funds and donating tzedakah to the Empowerment Plan in Detroit.
