EASTERN MARKET'S FLOWER DAY
On Sunday, May 17, from 7 a.m.-5 p.m., Detroit's Eastern Market will look like the
country's largest flower garden; all sheds and open areas are covered with every possible
annual, perennial, herb, shrub and tree at prices well below what nurseries charge. Find
dahlias, fragrant jasmine, pastel Gerbera daisies, dozens of rose varieties, sweet lilac
bushes, smoke trees and succulents.
Metropolitan Detroit Flower Growers Association (MDFGA) members arrive every
year from Michigan, Ontario and neighboring states to share 15 acres of the heartiest
varieties for this region, and they're ready to answer questions about how to help them
thrive.
So grab your wagon, decorate it if you're so inclined and come early for the best
selection.
HUNTINGTON WOODS HOME TOUR
Huntington Woods' diverse architecture is a unique local treasure, which is why the
Huntington Woods Women's League is excited to announce its 23rd Annual Home Tour,
taking place Sunday, June 7, from 1-5 p.m.
The tour, which starts at the Huntington Woods Library, features five to six beautiful
homes with a variety of architectural styles that reflect the diversity and character of the
city.
The cost is $20 in advance online at www.hwwl.org or $25 on the day of the event,
available at the Huntington Woods Library (26415 Scotia Road) or the Huntington Woods
Recreation Center (26235 Scotia).
All proceeds raised from this event are redistributed to local charities supporting
education, women's and children's causes, such as Berkley High School scholarships, the
Huntington Woods 4th of July Parade, Berkley Youth Assistance program, Norup Food
Pantry and other great organizations.
