Jeff ct .Matt — .Macy Attack Advertorial tv Jeff and Matt Barker — From generation to generation, Jeff and Matt Barker are committed to exceed their clients' expectations. By Nick Moretti W hen a company reaches the top 1 percent of its profession on a national level, success is attributed to both industry and client satisfaction. Jeff and Matt Barker, Associate Brokers with Max Broock Realtors, enjoy that 1-percent honor and attribute it to exceeding client expectations. Yet this success has an inside ace in the hole: Jeff and Matt are father and son, and love working for their clients and with each other. "It is the thrill of my life to spend each day with my son and best friend," Jeff says. "We have always been extremely close in our relationship, which is the foundation for us being able to work together seven days a week." Strong Ethics Jeff and Matt Barker 32 May 14 • 2015 Jeff and Matt credit ethics and integrity as the cornerstone of their team. A successful team requires trust within the team itself, and family often inspires the best trust of all — inside and outside the business. Not only does Jeff consider his son to be his best friend and partner, but he also still can't help but feel paternal pride at his effectiveness. "I have someone that I trust completely with our clients and that provides them with the highest level of service in the industry" Jeff says. "I am so proud when I receive compliments from clients and other realtors about my son's professionalism. He has established himself in a short period of time and has become successful in his own right." In fact, Matt was just selected by the National Association of Realtors for its "30 Under 30" class of 2015, as featured in REALTOR Magazine. There were more than 400 nominees and Matt was the youngest of the 30 honorees. Indeed, it helps the team greatly that Matt's social media and Internet marketing skills add the essential elements crucial in today's real estate business. The team can enjoy two generations' approach to serving their clients. Both Jeff and Matt's desire to help others is clearly reflected in their approach to business. "No one deal will ever change our lifestyle," Jeff says, summing up his philosophy. "What is most important to me is maintaining my reputation and always placing our clients' interests first." Matt has adopted his father's philosophy and is quick to say that he has learned from the best. "My dad was named the Best Realtor in HOUR Detroit magazine, and that speaks volumes about how our clients feel about him," Matt says. "He was also awarded 2014 Realtor Entrepreneur of the Year by his peers and that meant a great deal to him." The father and son obviously don't just respect each other professionally: They admire each other's success as much as they enjoy each other's company. "I have told my son that he needs to be able to put his head down on the pillow at night with a clear conscience," Jeff says. "I want to be a great role model for how business should be conducted." Jeff is especially insistent on placing the "honor and integrity" of their professionalism ahead of worrying about commissions. "Never worry about the commission," Jeff says. "If you do a great job and are honest, the success will follow. We operate from the heart." Satisfied Salespeople The team also relies on their clients to be their best salespeople: Most of the Barkers' business comes from referrals, a strong testimony to their proven track record. Jeff and Matt recommend above all else that clients choose a professional they trust. The Barkers achieved a record- breaking 2014 with more than 70 homes sold. They have been recognized by the Wall Street Journal and are among America's Best Realtors ranked by Real Trend 500. "Our highest honor is having assisted five of our local rabbis with their real estate transactions," Jeff says. "I feel that is the strongest testimonial to our character that we could ever aspire to. It is a supreme compliment to be referred from one rabbi to another."
