"[My] images are mostly abstract,
but, in fact, are based on the con-
stant inquiry into the reality of life
experience," says painter Marcia
Freedman. Using family members
as muses, "figures [become] emo-
tional landscapes in a commen-
tary on complex associations and
perceptions." Hear the Detroit-
based artist speak about her work
(shown) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday,
May 14, at the Birmingham
Bloomfield Art Center, where she
will have 12 paintings exhibited
in "Memory & Observation,"
through June 5. (248) 644-0866;
