ho wants to move to
Downtown/Midtown?
Moishe House is
working hard to find
the next residents for a new house
in the city of Detroit, thanks to a
$100,000 grant from the Washington
D.C.-based Emmanuel J. Friedman
Foundation to expand in Detroit.
Already, eight candidates have
applied, and more names are coming
in. To open, Moishe House is seeking
a group of three to five applicants
between the ages of 22 and 30 who
will apply together.
Once selected, the group will go
out and find their home in a central
location, sign a lease and get started
creating a welcoming space for the
young Jewish adult network of Detroit.
Residents will put on five to six
programs a month, including Shabbat
dinners, holiday celebrations, book

clubs, art outings, movie nights and
much more.
Moishe House provides a rent
subsidy, program budget and training.
Qualified residents may come from a
wide range of Jewish backgrounds and
should be passionate about creating a
unique Jewish community in Detroit.
If you're wondering how it's done,
just look to the five residents of Moishe
House Royal Oak, who are connecting
with often-unaffiliated Jewish young
adults calling the Detroit area home.
The Royal Oak Moishe House hosted
64 programs and attracted 1,400 in
total attendance in 2014. In the first
three months of this year, the residents
hosted 16 programs for 270 people.
If you are interested in applying
to be a resident at the Downtown/
Midtown Moishe House, contact
Adam Dobrusin at adam.dobrusin@
