Our Team In Iran Lacks
Skills In Negotiation
Kudos to Ken Gross on his column about
negotiations with Iran ("Negotiation Is The
Key:' April 9, page 35).
Ken Gross' article is straight from
"Negotiation 101" and is the same message
that Bibi delivered to Congress last month.
I don't think Secretary of State John Kerry
and his team have the skill set to negoti-
ate a new car price let alone a nuclear deal
with Iran.

Correction
• In "A Troubling History" (April 9, page
66), lecturer Joshua Cole inadvertently
misrepresented a public opinion poll,
which actually showed 69 percent of the
French public as a whole and 42 percent
of the Muslim population approved of the
2004 French senate ban on Islamic heads-
carves in public schools. He realized the
Muslim percentage he stated was too high.

Israel Memorial Day At
West Bloomfield JCC
The Detroit Jewish community will
commemorate Israel's fallen soldiers
and victims of terror at a service
sponsored by the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit and other com-
munity partners on Yom HaZikaron,
Israel's Day of Remembrance, at
7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at the
Jewish Community Center in West
Bloomfield.
The program, which is free and
open to the public, will include a can-
dlelighting ceremony and memorial
service for those who have given their
lives for Israel's independence. Victims
of terror also will be remembered. An
officer from the Israel Defense Forces
will represent the military and speak
at the ceremony.
The Yom HaZikaron program is
modeled after the community pro-
grams held in Israel, honoring the
sons and daughters of Israel, heroes
who have given their lives, as well
as those who live on, with courage
and hope. One of the most moving
moments of the program is a minute
of silent reflection while a siren is
sounded.
For information, contact Lori
Davidson Mertz, Israel and Overseas
Department at the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit, (248) 203-1493.
