Tamarack Focuses On Special Needs Campers Tamarack Camps has hired Franki Bagdade as the new director of special needs services. Through the generosity of the Dresner Foundation and the Benard L Maas Foundation along with the Jewish Fund and other key supporters, funds have been secured to provide comprehensive staff training and support for Tamarack Camps' Special Needs Programs: Nachman Franki Horizons Camper Bagdade Program and Horizons Avodah Young Adult Program. The Nachman Horizons Camper Program allows campers to integrate into villages and participate in camp activities. Campers will also have the support of an additional bunk counselor trained to work directly with them. The Horizons Avodah Young Adult Program provides participants with the opportu- nity to work in specific areas of camp as well as enjoy a variety of camp activities. Bagdade is an experienced special education consultant with a master's degree in special education. A special needs task force, chaired by Dr. Barbara Kappy, is reviewing current practices, challenges and opportunities to position Tamarack Camps to best meet the future needs of the community.
